Abidjan, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : In Abidjan, on October 8, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with members of the Indian community to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service. During the discussion, he highlighted the significant changes India has undergone under Modi’s leadership.

Jaishankar described the interaction as wonderful, sharing insights on the transformative policies implemented during Modi’s tenure. He remarked, “Prime Minister Modi‘s extensive experience in public life over 25 years continues to guide our relationships and engagement with the world.”

The minister elaborated on several aspects of India’s growing global connectivity under Modi’s government. He pointed out initiatives aimed at securing energy supplies from various countries amidst global uncertainties, ensuring food security through partnerships, and addressing people’s issues to improve their lives.

He emphasized that the government’s experience in governance and public service has played a crucial role in tackling global challenges, focusing on practical solutions for the common man.

Jaishankar cited improvements in passport services as an example of these advancements. He noted that a deep understanding of India’s systems has facilitated such changes. “Our progress in passport services is a prime example. By leveraging our understanding of the system, we have been able to implement reforms. This is also evident in our rapid response during natural disasters and efforts to safely evacuate stranded Indian citizens,” he stated.

He also referenced India’s presidency during BRICS and G20 meetings, highlighting the importance of personal relationships and coordination in enhancing India’s global engagement. Jaishankar mentioned efforts to secure permanent membership for the African Union in the G20, showcasing India’s commitment to taking concrete actions while understanding international systems rather than merely making statements.

The Foreign Minister praised the contributions of the Indian diaspora, stating that Indians living abroad play a vital role in strengthening ties between India and other nations, acting as a crucial link between both societies.

Jaishankar’s meeting with the Indian community in Côte d’Ivoire coincided with the 25th anniversary of Modi’s service as the head of the government, which began on October 7, 2001, when he took office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
