New Delhi, August 1: Congress leader Pramod Tiwari has come to the defense of independent MP Pappu Yadav, who recently faced backlash for his unique protest regarding donations for the Ram Temple within the Parliament complex. Tiwari stated that Yadav’s actions were well-considered.
In a conversation with a news agency, Tiwari remarked, “This is the reality of our country. The SIT that was formed concluded that there was indeed embezzlement in the Ram Temple donations. MPs must understand that Parliament is a place for discussion. If voices are not heard inside Parliament, protests will naturally occur outside. The truth is that theft did happen.”
Regarding Yadav’s appearance in a sadhu’s attire in Parliament, Tiwari asserted, “Wearing saffron robes is not solely the right of the Bharatiya Janata Party or its supporters. Sadhus wear saffron, and common people also don these robes during religious rituals at home. I believe that Pappu Yadav acted with thoughtfulness.”
Tiwari also criticized the central government in light of the recent murders of two non-Kashmiri laborers in Kulgam. He questioned, “Where is the Home Minister who claimed complete peace after the abrogation of Article 370? The incident in Kulgam is unfortunate. I pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack and demand a compensation of one crore rupees for each family. Not just Kulgam, but similar incidents have occurred in Pahalgam, where people were shot after being questioned. Kashmir is an integral part of India. The workers went there based on the security assurances you provided.”
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video message, Tiwari stated, “You need to apologize, not forgive. You should seek forgiveness from those children who still bear the pellets fired by the police. They have lost their eyesight and have been severely injured. If you need to apologize, then do so.”
Tiwari also commented on the reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices, stating, “Today, supply is abundant and routes are open. Prices should be reverted to their original levels. A reduction of 200 rupees is insufficient.” He further urged for a decrease in petrol and diesel prices, citing the fall in crude oil prices in the international market. He emphasized that the government should also lower domestic LPG cylinder prices to benefit the common people.
