Emergency Landing of Indigo Flight in Lucknow After Lightning Strike

Lucknow, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : An Indigo Airlines flight traveling from Patna to Lucknow made an emergency landing on October 8 due to severe weather conditions, including lightning strikes. The incident occurred as the aircraft was flying at an altitude of 17,000 feet, causing damage to the front section of the plane. Fortunately, all 104 passengers and six crew members onboard were reported safe after the flight landed at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

According to reports, the flight, designated 6E-625, encountered hail during its descent, which impacted the aircraft’s radome, the protective cover at the front. The plane managed to land safely, arriving just eight minutes ahead of its scheduled time.

Following the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation. The aircraft has been grounded and will remain out of service until necessary inspections and maintenance are completed. Indigo Airlines confirmed that relevant authorities were notified immediately after the incident, and the aircraft will undergo essential checks before being cleared for future flights.

This incident follows another recent occurrence involving an Indigo flight at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, where the aircraft suffered damage during landing due to a “tail strike” caused by strong winds. After that event, the aircraft was also grounded for safety reasons.
