National Basketball Player Aryan Kumar Advocates for Health in Sunday on Cycle Initiative

Aryan Kumar highlights the importance of physical activity at the 96th Sunday on Cycle event in New Delhi, promoting mental and physical health.

New Delhi, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : The 96th edition of the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ initiative, part of the Fit India Movement, took place in New Delhi on October 25, 2026. National basketball player Aryan Kumar flagged off the cycling rally, emphasizing its significance for both physical and mental health.

Speaking to the media, Kumar praised the initiative, stating, “This is a remarkable initiative by our government. As an athlete, I understand how crucial physical activity is in daily life. Even if you are not a professional athlete, staying active is vital for mental well-being. ‘Sunday on Cycle’ is a fantastic initiative. It’s exciting and new, encouraging people to step outside their homes in the morning.”

The event attracted a large number of young participants, alongside many senior citizens. In addition to cycling, many young attendees engaged in dance as part of their fitness routines.

Launched in December 2024 by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ campaign has been held every Sunday not only in Delhi but also across various parts of the country.

The initiative aims to raise health awareness among the public and encourage cycling. It also addresses issues related to obesity and promotes environmental sustainability by reducing fuel consumption. Furthermore, the government is working to connect more youth to this program as part of its mission to combat substance abuse.
