RSS to Conduct Route Marches in Tamil Nadu Following Court Approval
The RSS is set to hold route marches in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu after receiving court approval for 128 locations.

Chennai, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will hold route marches in Chennai and various parts of Tamil Nadu this Sunday. The Madras High Court has granted permission for the organization to conduct marches at 128 locations across the state on October 25 and November 2. This event follows the court’s recent ruling.
For the upcoming march, seven locations have been designated in Chennai and its suburbs, including Tiruvottiyur, Kolathur, Egmore, Korattur, Ayyappanthangal, Medavakkam, and Chromepet. The procession in Egmore will commence at 4 PM near Ramada Hotel and conclude near Rajaratnam Stadium, where a public meeting is also scheduled.
In Kolathur, the march will start at 3 PM from near the Kamaraj statue in Peravallur. The RSS has outlined specific times and places for participants to gather before the marches begin.
This court approval came in response to a petition filed by RSS state secretary Jagadish after the state government denied permission for proposed events. During the hearing, the High Court permitted the marches at the designated locations on the specified dates. The organization sought this permission as part of its centenary celebrations.
Founded on Vijayadashami in 1925, the RSS is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and is marking its entry into the second century with events across the country. Vijayadashami holds special significance for the organization as it symbolizes its establishment.
Traditionally, these annual events feature uniformed volunteers marching and participating in gatherings where speakers address attendees and supporters. The RSS has been organizing route marches in Tamil Nadu for nearly seven decades, although there have been disputes over permissions between the organization and the state government in the past.
During the previous DMK government, the RSS had also approached the courts after being denied permission, ultimately receiving judicial approval to hold marches following proceedings in the Supreme Court.
The events scheduled for Sunday will take place under the latest High Court order, with additional marches planned for November 2, completing the organization’s program at all 128 locations.
