Congress Leader Criticizes Governments Development Model as Merely Paper-Based

Bhopal, June 16: Jitu Patwari, the President of the Madhya Pradesh unit of Congress, has targeted the government over rising unemployment and declining workforce participation. He accused the government of having a development model that exists only on paper.

In a social media post, Patwari referenced recent data from the National Statistical Office (NSO), which he claims exposes the reality of the government’s paper-based development model. He highlighted that the unemployment rate surged to 5.5% in May 2025, marking the highest level in 11 months. The number of job seekers has also decreased, indicating a loss of faith among youth in securing employment.

Patwari commented on the participation of workers, noting that the labor force participation rate has dropped from 55% to 54.4%. He pointed out that the employment ratio has fallen to just 51.4% due to the central government’s policies. Referring to promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he stated that this is the same government that vowed to provide two crore jobs annually to the youth, a promise reiterated multiple times.

Criticizing the current investment climate and opportunities for youth, Patwari questioned where the jobs are, despite claims of economic growth and record investments. He noted that young graduates are struggling to find work, competitive exams are marred by paper leaks, and contractual hiring is replacing permanent jobs. Patwari accused the government of being preoccupied with data manipulation, asserting that its greatest failure is not inflation, but the destruction of youth aspirations.
