Congress Has Become a Party of Abuses Instead of Gandhian Values: Shahzad Poonawala

New Delhi, May 24: Shahzad Poonawala, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reacted to the West Bengal government’s decision to amend the holiday for Bakrid. He stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has long been oppressing Hindus. Poonawala further claimed that the Congress party has transformed into a party of abuses.

In an interview regarding the FIR filed against Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai, Poonawala remarked, “The Congress has become a party of abuses instead of adhering to Gandhian values. Recently, Rahul Gandhi referred to the Prime Minister using derogatory terms, and shortly after, his close associate Ajay Rai allegedly used offensive language against the Prime Minister. Later, he claimed this was due to AI or other reasons. A review of his past records shows a history filled with abuses. Reports suggest that Congress has used over 150 derogatory terms against the Prime Minister, targeting him due to his OBC and impoverished background.”

Poonawala continued, “For a long time, the TMC government has unjustly treated Hindus to appease the Muslim vote bank. They imposed Section 144 during Hindu festivals, prevented processions, and canceled holidays. In contrast, several days of holidays were declared for Muslim community festivals. Now, the BJP government has completely eliminated appeasement politics. Suvendu Adhikari’s government is taking steps against infiltrators. Additionally, ‘Vande Mataram’ has been made mandatory in madrasas and schools. Today, Hindus in West Bengal have as much right as any other community. The BJP works for everyone and ensures justice for all.”

Regarding the tension between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, Poonawala stated, “The rift between the Samajwadi Party and Congress has deepened once again. Akhilesh Yadav has indicated that Congress will not have much space in the alliance. In response, Imran Masood sharply criticized this, asserting that Rahul Gandhi is the true leader, indirectly challenging Akhilesh Yadav’s stance. Previously, Yadav stated that the SP would contest all 403 seats and is focused not just on winning seats but on actual victories. The Indi alliance lacks a clear goal and vision. The coalition is riddled with issues of commission, corruption, ambition, and division for positions. Congress has betrayed DMK, TMC, Shiv Sena UBT, RJD, and JMM, which has made Akhilesh Yadav cautious.”
