New Delhi, August 14: Congress leader Pawan Khera has sharply criticized the RSS in support of Rahul Gandhi‘s remarks during a Lok Sabha session. He questioned the organization’s history and ideology, asserting that there is no need to repeatedly state facts related to the nation’s history.
Khera accused the RSS of being linked to the “Two-Nation Theory,” claiming that the ideological mentors of the RSS promoted this concept. He referenced the role of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee during the Quit India Movement, alleging that he had supported the British in writing.
The Congress MP also accused the RSS of obstructing the efforts of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, opposing the national flag, and burning copies of the Constitution. He stated that the Congress has numerous historical examples against the RSS. Khera emphasized that if the RSS wants to hear that it is “anti-national,” Congress will continue to assert this.
When questioned about Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding Prime Minister Modi, Khera remarked that Congress must criticize the Prime Minister. He labeled External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar as a “puppet,” stating that the Prime Minister takes credit for every achievement and meets foreign leaders, thus making him the target of Congress’s scrutiny.
Khera alleged that the government is yielding to the U.S. and China on various issues, including tariffs and Russian oil. He sarcastically noted that a few years ago, it was claimed that the Prime Minister had halted a war, questioning where that role is now.
The Congress leader also commented on the Prime Minister’s activities during foreign trips, alleging that while Modi participates in events for the Indian diaspora, Indian citizens abroad face long queues and difficult conditions. Khera demanded clear accountability from the government regarding foreign policy and the interests of Indian citizens.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, when asked about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the “Creative Congress” program, stated that he did not have much information. He noted that Meloni is the Prime Minister of Italy and Modi is from India, adding that hearing different names does not imply that one should speak against anyone.
