Ahmedabad, June 16: BJP leader Rohan Gupta has sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s advice to the leaders of the India coalition. He accused Congress of exploiting its allies for political gain while now attempting to lecture others on coalition ethics. Gupta stated that the very party that weakened the India coalition is now offering guidance to its partners.
In a conversation, Gupta remarked that the Congress party, which has undermined the India coalition, is now advising its allies. He claimed that after the Lok Sabha elections, the India coalition is completely fragmented. He pointed out that in states like Haryana, Maharashtra, and Bihar, Congress has ignored the interests of its coalition partners for its own selfish motives.
Gupta emphasized that Congress needs to introspect whether it is using the India coalition to preserve its power or genuinely looking out for the interests of its allies. He noted that giving speeches and implementing them are two different matters, and in the future, coalition partners may not trust Congress’s words.
He also responded to Kerala’s Chief Minister’s expressed displeasure over a Vice Chancellor attending an RSS event. Gupta stated that attending any program is a personal choice. He questioned why there is such objection to a Vice Chancellor participating in an RSS event, especially when senior Congress leaders, including V.D. Satheesan, have also attended RSS programs. He asked if their standards changed upon becoming Chief Minister or if appeasement politics had become so entrenched that they must object to attending RSS events to maintain their political relevance. The public is increasingly frustrated with this mindset.
Gupta asserted that everyone has the right to promote their ideology, but that does not mean others should be labeled with hatred for expressing their views. Those who speak of love are ironically serving up hatred, which is the clearest evidence of their dual mentality. He further stated that in Telangana, Congress’s Chief Minister claims that Congress represents Muslims, and in such cases, neither the Constitution is at risk nor their politics. However, when an RSS or any other ideological program occurs, immediate objections arise. This double standard is unacceptable. The public’s trust in Congress, which operates on appeasement politics, is waning. People can see clearly that those accusing others of hate politics are, in fact, promoting division and animosity.
Regarding Imran Masood’s statement that the DMK should safeguard its existence, Gupta remarked that the DMK has always supported Congress. He claimed that despite Congress’s dwindling numbers, the DMK backed it, only to be let down later by Congress.
Gupta noted that many parties within the India coalition are dissatisfied with Congress’s behavior, leading to a continuous decline in the coalition’s strength. He accused Congress of using its allies for political interests and abandoning them when convenient. He pointed to the political scenario in West Bengal, questioning Congress’s strategies and alleging that the party does not hesitate to create a hostile environment against its partners.
He concluded by stating that anyone aligning with Congress becomes a victim of its political machinations, akin to the mythical demon Bhishmasur.
