Amaravati, June 18: The YSR Congress Party has raised serious allegations regarding the misuse of the Voter List Revision (SVR) process in Andhra Pradesh, claiming it is being exploited for large-scale removal of voter names.
Party leader and former minister Sake Shailajanath stated that the ongoing SVR process has become flawed. He accused the ruling coalition of once again utilizing the ‘MyTDP App’ to eliminate voter names.
Speaking at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, he emphasized that the party has repeatedly demanded transparency in the SVR process. He expressed concerns over the collection and misuse of voter data through the app and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer.
Shailajanath recalled that during the previous Seva Mitra campaign, approximately 3 million YSRCP votes were targeted for removal but were saved through legal intervention. He pointed to similar incidents in Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, alleging that Andhra Pradesh is now facing the same threats.
He claimed that in certain areas of Anantapur district, field verification is being conducted under the direct influence of TDP leaders, with the ‘MyTDP App’ being included in official groups used by government officials.
Shailajanath urged the Election Commission to ensure a transparent and fair SVR process, prevent leaks of voter data, and protect constitutional voting rights. He warned that if the Commission fails to respond, the YSRCP is prepared to initiate a democratic movement to safeguard the public’s voting rights.
Previously, former Deputy Chief Minister Amjad Basha and former MLA S. Raghurami Reddy also alleged that the SVR process is riddled with errors and aims to remove names of opposition supporters. They claimed a conspiracy is underway to eliminate YSRCP supporters from the voter list.
