Congress Accused of Political Drama Over Election Form Errors

Bhopal, June 12: Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang welcomed the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Meenakshi Natarajan’s petition. He alleged that the Congress party deliberately created a controversy surrounding the Rajya Sabha elections to avoid political embarrassment. Sarang accused Congress of undermining democratic institutions.

He stated that the Supreme Court made the right decision, emphasizing that Congress was merely engaging in theatrics. “Congress knew there would be an election for the third seat and that they would lose badly,” he said.

Sarang noted that Congress leaders had already mentioned the possibility of cross-voting. They were aware that cross-voting would occur, leading to their humiliation. Therefore, he claimed, Congress intentionally submitted an incorrect form, which was subsequently rejected, and now they are causing a commotion.

He criticized Congress leaders for using derogatory terms towards the Supreme Court, questioning the party’s direction. “On one hand, they talk about upholding the Constitution, while on the other, they are trampling on it,” he remarked. He raised concerns about the appropriateness of such language directed at the Supreme Court.

Sarang further questioned why Congress submitted an incorrect form. “If they had consulted the prominent leaders and lawyers they took to the Supreme Court, this situation could have been avoided,” he suggested.

He also pointed out that a crucial piece of information was omitted in Meenakshi Natarajan’s affidavit. According to him, this information was concealed because it related to a case of women’s harassment. He accused Congress of wanting to keep this matter under wraps.

Sarang concluded, “Congress deliberately had their form rejected. One reason was the connection to women’s harassment, and the other was the fear of political embarrassment due to cross-voting.”
