Mumbai, August 9: Senior Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja has responded to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations regarding E-20 petrol. Saluja supported Gandhi’s concerns, criticizing the central government for its stance on the issue. Meanwhile, Neeraj Singh, Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, and Union Minister Annapurna Devi questioned Gandhi’s political motives and the role of the opposition.
In Mumbai, Saluja emphasized that Rahul Gandhi consistently prioritizes the welfare of citizens, especially the underprivileged. He stated that Gandhi’s recent comments on E-20 petrol are valid. Saluja warned that the introduction of E-20 petrol could adversely affect both two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles, leading to increased costs for vehicle owners. Users of scooters, bikes, cars, and larger vehicles may face engine and maintenance issues, resulting in financial strain. He argued that the benefits of this policy would favor government officials rather than ordinary vehicle owners.
Saluja expressed that if Gandhi calls for public awareness campaigns or protests against E-20, Congress would support such initiatives. He urged citizens to engage with this issue, highlighting the need for awareness among all vehicle owners. Rising maintenance costs could become a significant economic burden for the average person.
On the other hand, Neeraj Singh criticized Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Prayagraj, claiming that while students in Jharkhand have been on hunger strikes for 15 days, Gandhi has not addressed their concerns. Singh accused Gandhi of being politically active only when it suits him, questioning his lack of a clear agenda for youth issues. He challenged why, after years in politics, Gandhi has not proposed any constructive solutions for young people.
Singh also noted that the government, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, has implemented strict measures to prevent incidents like paper leaks. He claimed that such events are now classified as major offenses, with severe penalties and fines.
Union Minister Annapurna Devi also launched a strong critique of Rahul Gandhi, labeling him directionless. She accused the opposition leader of avoiding meaningful discussions on various issues. In Parliament, MPs have the opportunity to raise concerns from their constituencies through question time and other parliamentary procedures. Devi stated that disruptions caused by the opposition hinder MPs from addressing important issues.
She further questioned Gandhi’s claims about microphones being turned off in Parliament. Devi asserted that when given the chance to speak, Gandhi often complains about the microphone being off instead of making his points. She noted that there have been numerous occasions where the microphone was indeed on, and the Speaker encouraged him to speak. Despite this, she claimed that the opposition continues to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.
