Mumbai, February 22: Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan from Maharashtra commended the government for hosting an AI summit but expressed concerns about the lack of caution regarding artificial intelligence.

In a conversation about AI, Chavan acknowledged the significance of a global event taking place in a country like India. He stated that while the government and ministers deserve praise for this initiative, there are opportunities and risks associated with AI. He warned that a significant number of jobs could be lost as AI advances.

Chavan raised a critical question: if machines become more intelligent than humans, what could be the consequences? He emphasized the need for serious consideration of this issue. While he understands that the Indian government is focusing on the benefits of AI, such as startup opportunities, he believes there is insufficient attention being paid to its potential dangers. This lack of discourse is a matter of concern.

On the topic of reservations for Muslims, Chavan clarified that these reservations were not solely for Muslims but aimed at religiously backward classes. He compared this to the Mandal Commission’s efforts to provide reservations for Hindu backward classes.

Chavan also mentioned an article he wrote regarding the Indigo crisis, where he called for the immediate resignation of the Civil Aviation Minister, Naidu. He held the Civil Aviation Authority and DGCA officials responsible for the incident and demanded their dismissal.

Regarding the Baramati crash, he stated that while he has not called for resignations, an investigation is necessary.
