Mumbai, June 14: The controversy surrounding comedian Pranit More’s video titled “370 Rupees Biryani” continues to escalate. In response, actor and comic content creator Snehal Dixit Mehra condemned the incident, stating that what Pranit did was entirely wrong, and he should take responsibility for it. Moreover, he should not have shared it on social media.
During a conversation in Mumbai, Snehal Dixit Mehra expressed, “What Pranit did was completely wrong. At that moment, he should have questioned not only his own actions but also the misogynistic mindset of the audience, as he had the microphone in his hand. If that was not done, the matter could have ended there since it was a recorded event in a closed room. However, as a content creator, he made the decision to upload that video to his social media profile. Therefore, the full responsibility for creating and posting that clip lies with the person who shared it.”
Discussing comedy and its boundaries, Snehal noted that humor is a highly subjective topic, and everyone has different interpretations. He remarked, “Comedy is something that one person may find funny, while another may not appreciate it at all. Writing comedy and presenting it on stage is a delicate art. Often, artists may not even realize when they cross the line of sensitivity.”
He further stated that the final judgment regarding a performance lies with the audience and those affected. He concluded, “Ultimately, it is the people who listen to and experience that comedy who can tell whether it was genuinely comedic or if it reflected a misogynistic perspective.”
