CM Yogis Message for Rainy Season: Five Key Appeals to Residents

Lucknow, June 22: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has penned a letter to the residents of the state on the occasion of the rainy season and Chaturmas, emphasizing the importance of nature conservation, water preservation, cleanliness, and public participation. He has also provided several recommendations.

In his letter, CM Yogi addressed the people, stating, “Every change in nature brings a new message for life. The rainy season heralds renewal, enhancement, and prosperity. Uttar Pradesh is an agriculture-driven state. The hard work of our farmers is the foundation of food security for both the state and the nation. The first drops of rain will invigorate our farmers’ lives.” He added that the rainy season also marks the beginning of the sacred period of Chaturmas, which teaches us coexistence with nature, sensitivity, and a balanced life.

CM Yogi expressed, “Mata Bhumiḥ Putro’ham Prithivyah—this land is our mother, and we are her children. Therefore, we must welcome nature while fulfilling our responsibilities towards Mother Earth. I would like to make five appeals to all residents. First, under the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ initiative, every family should plant at least one sapling and commit to its care. Second, with the belief that ‘Water is Life,’ let’s create a public campaign for the preservation and cleanliness of ponds, wells, and traditional water sources, along with rainwater harvesting in homes, schools, and local institutions. Third, let’s promote organic farming to express gratitude towards nature. This will ensure a healthier family, society, and a robust agricultural system. Fourth, maintain cleanliness during the rainy season and take precautions against waterborne and infectious diseases. Fifth, ensure there is no waterlogging in your vicinity and avoid dumping garbage. Pay special attention to keeping drains free from plastic.”

The Chief Minister also advised caution against lightning strikes during the rainy season. He noted, “Lightning incidents can occur during rains, so avoid going outside unnecessarily and do not stand under trees. Heavy rainfall can cause rivers and water bodies to rise rapidly, so exercise caution while bathing in them. The government has made extensive preparations to tackle these challenges, but remain vigilant and alert. Your cooperation will make our efforts meaningful.”
