Deoria, June 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sharply countered the opposition’s allegations regarding the Ram Mandir donation issue on Friday. He emphasized that the government had made it clear from the outset that the matter would be resolved transparently. Following the receipt of the SIT’s preliminary report, action has already commenced.
He urged the opposition not to play with the faith of Ram devotees, stating that any evidence should be presented to the SIT. While addressing the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of development projects worth over ₹456 crore in Deoria, the Chief Minister reiterated his earlier statement made during his visit to Ayodhya on June 19, asserting that action would be taken against the guilty after the investigation concludes. The first FIR has already been registered based on the SIT’s initial findings, and legal proceedings have begun.
The Chief Minister remarked that Ayodhya is a center of faith for millions. He cautioned against making baseless accusations against this sacred city. He urged everyone to respect the dignity of Lord Ram and assured that the government would not spare any guilty party. However, he stressed that it is also inappropriate to hurt public sentiments with unfounded allegations.
Adityanath stated that anyone possessing concrete facts or evidence related to the case should present them to the SIT instead of making public statements. He reiterated that the faith of Ram devotees should not be subjected to scrutiny, and unnecessary political maneuvering on this issue should be avoided. During his address, he also targeted the Samajwadi Party and Congress, claiming that those questioning Ayodhya and Lord Ram today were the same individuals who once denied Lord Ram’s existence and opposed the construction of the temple at Ram Janmabhoomi.
He accused certain individuals of disrupting religious events like Ram Navami while now claiming to uphold faith. Without naming anyone, he also took a jab at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
He remarked, “A gentleman from Delhi has come to Ayodhya today. The people of Delhi gave him opportunities for years, but he has only brought corruption to the capital. Had he treated Delhi with the same justice as the BJP’s double-engine government has treated Ayodhya, Delhi would have emerged as a new identity of development like Ayodhya Dham.”
The Chief Minister assured that the state government’s intentions are clear and that the investigation is progressing impartially. He promised that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty in the inquiry, in accordance with the law.
