Hyderabad, June 26: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called on all state government employees to work an additional hour each day to enhance the state’s revenue.
In a meeting following the signing of memorandums of understanding with banks to provide insurance coverage for employees, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to curb illegal activities and prevent corruption to increase revenue.
He stated that the success of welfare schemes relies on the hard work of employees. The trust of the workforce is the government’s strength, and he urged all employees to contribute an extra hour daily. Increased revenue, he noted, would be utilized for employee welfare, and the reputation of the government rests in the hands of the state employees.
Revanth Reddy called for unity among all employees to make Telangana the top state in the country. He assured that maintaining law and order and attracting investment to the state are top priorities for the government.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to providing insurance coverage for all government employees, including outsourcing and contract workers. After presenting a ₹1 crore insurance payment to the families of 45 Singareni workers who lost their lives in accidents, the government decided to extend similar insurance coverage to all employees.
He stressed that providing financial support to families of employees who pass away unexpectedly is the government’s responsibility. Such a comprehensive insurance scheme will offer courage and reassurance to employees’ families during difficult times.
To this end, the government has signed an agreement with bankers to make accident insurance available to state employees.
Revanth Reddy encouraged employees to bring their demands and grievances to his attention, assuring them that the government is ready to address these issues.
He criticized the KCR government for plunging the revenue-surplus Telangana state into a debt of ₹8.11 lakh crore in just ten years. He reminded employees that during the BRS regime, salaries were never paid on the first of the month. Despite various challenges, his government is ensuring timely salary payments to employees.
The Chief Minister mentioned that he has not taken a single day off in the past 30 months and has come to Delhi solely to protect the interests of the state.
He added that all government schemes are thriving, with the sole aim of resolving public issues and steering the state towards development, targeting a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
