Clashes Erupt Between TMC and BJP Workers in Jagaddal, Several Injured

Kolkata, April 27: In a troubling incident in the Jagaddal area of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, clashes broke out between workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP candidate Rajesh Singh filed a complaint at the Jagaddal police station late last night, reporting that several individuals were injured during the altercation.

Singh stated that the conflict began the previous day during a street meeting organized by the BJP. TMC supporters, including local councilor Manoj Pandey, allegedly disrupted the event, leading to chaos. Following the incident, Singh and his team approached the police to file a formal complaint.

The BJP candidate explained that they were putting up posters to welcome Prime Minister Modi when TMC members began to harass them. He recounted that upon returning home, stones were thrown, followed by bomb blasts. Their driver was targeted with stones, and gunfire was reported.

In response, TMC candidate Amit Gupta claimed that one of their workers, Bittu, was setting up banners when the BJP supporters attacked. He mentioned that their party office was also vandalized, with flags torn down and their members, Guddu Singh and Pintu Singh, assaulted.

Gupta further stated that they had come to the police station to file a complaint when BJP’s Arjun Singh launched an unexpected attack on their workers. He emphasized that such behavior is not new for the BJP, citing numerous pending cases against them.

He warned that if the BJP were to come to power, such violence would become commonplace. Gupta expressed hope for action from the authorities, noting that the Election Commission has also been informed of the incident.
