CJP Meeting in Kolkata Canceled Amid Allegations of Intimidation

Kolkata, August 18: The Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) has reportedly canceled its scheduled meeting in Kolkata due to last-minute refusal from the venue owner. The meeting was set to take place in a hall in North Kolkata.

CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka announced the cancellation on social media Tuesday afternoon.

In his post, Ranka stated, “Our planned meet-up at the Bharat Sabha Hall in North Kolkata has been canceled because the hall owners received threats from leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Six other venues also declined, citing heavy pressure from the state government.”

He emphasized that this incident underscores the BJP’s fear of the CJP. Although he lamented not being able to engage with the “Cockroaches of Bengal,” he assured supporters that they would compensate with a larger event soon.

Importantly, Ranka mentioned that the CJP will continue to visit government schools and pressure the West Bengal government for improvements.

He asserted, “The more you try to stop us, the bigger we will become.”

Ranka also claimed that he was supposed to address the media at the Kolkata Press Club. However, the event was canceled due to a power outage that began Monday night at the club located in the Maidan area of central Kolkata.

Previously, the CJP had issued an ultimatum to the West Bengal government, led by Suvendu Adhikari, demanding the arrest of those involved in the mysterious death of a CJP volunteer’s father. This volunteer had participated in the “Fix the Schools” campaign.

Ranka stated, “The BJP has only been in power in Bengal for four months. The new state government could easily say it will work on government schools and ask for time. The state government could engage in discussions on how to improve the education system in West Bengal. But when our volunteer went to audit schools, his father was murdered.”
