Ranchi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a strong attack on the Jharkhand government, accusing it of influencing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list and engaging in appeasement politics. Aditya Sahu, the state president of the BJP, addressed the media at the party office, alleging that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress opposed the SIR even before it began, and are now attempting to interfere with the process.
Sahu claimed that administrative officials are trying to add names from specific communities to the voter list. He criticized the Hemant Soren government for allegedly turning government officials into polling agents for the JMM-Congress alliance rather than allowing them to serve the public impartially. The BJP leader accused the administration of political interference in the electoral process, citing meetings between officials and political workers aimed at manipulating the voter list.
He emphasized that the discrepancies emerging in Santhal Pargana are not just about the voter list but are also questions of democratic transparency. Sahu demanded a thorough verification of the voter lists in sensitive areas like Sahibganj, Rajmahal, and Pakur. He also highlighted an incident in the Barharwa area of Pakur, where there were attempts to add names to the voter list based on allegedly fraudulent residential certificates.
In Ahut village, four individuals and a Common Service Center operator have been charged for trying to add names using fake documents. Sahu warned that the number of such cases could be much higher and called for their investigation. He also pointed out irregularities in the voter lists for the Rajmahal and Borio assembly constituencies, alleging unusual spikes in voter numbers over the years and discrepancies in age details.
Sahu suggested that these irregularities could indicate attempts to include names of Bangladeshi infiltrators in the voter list. He urged the state government to clarify its stance on whether it supports purifying the voter list or protecting suspicious names. The BJP leader asserted that the party will not tolerate these alleged irregularities, promising to bring the matter to light and pursue legal action if necessary. He advised officials to perform their duties impartially and warned that those acting against regulations should face consequences.
