Beijing, July 11: On July 10, China’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Sun Lei, addressed the Security Council regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, urging the maintenance of a ceasefire in the Middle East.
He emphasized that a proper resolution to the Iranian nuclear question is essential for restoring peace and stability in the region, as well as aligning with the interests of the international community. Sun called on the relevant parties to engage in dialogue with a rational and practical approach.
China requests all parties to refrain from using force or threats of force, while safeguarding the achievements of the U.S.-Iran concession memorandum and focusing on a solution that addresses both sides’ concerns.
Sun stated that resolving the Iranian nuclear issue requires respecting the reasonable demands and legitimate interests of all involved parties. Iran must adhere to its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, while the U.S. should take concrete actions to create conditions for a political resolution of the issue.
The Chinese delegation voted against the meeting agenda process.
