Beijing, February 24: The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday that it has added 20 Japanese entities to its export control list. This decision includes companies such as Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., which are involved in enhancing Japan’s military capabilities.
According to a spokesperson from the ministry, this action aligns with China’s export control laws and regulations concerning dual-use items. As a result, exporters will be prohibited from exporting dual-use goods to these entities. Additionally, foreign organizations and individuals will be barred from transferring or providing dual-use items produced in China to these companies. All ongoing activities must cease immediately.
Furthermore, 20 Japanese entities, including Subaru Corporation, have been placed on a watch list due to the inability to confirm the end users and final uses of their dual-use goods. If these entities cooperate during investigations, they may be removed from the watch list.
The spokesperson emphasized that this measure aims to curb Japan’s “re-militarization” and nuclear ambitions, asserting that it is entirely justified, reasonable, and legal. The move will not affect normal trade exchanges between China and Japan. Honest and law-abiding Japanese entities need not worry.
