Chief Minister Dhami Emphasizes Collective Responsibility for Environmental Protection on World Environment Day

Nainital, June 5: On World Environment Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the citizens of India, stating that protecting and preserving the environment is a collective responsibility. He emphasized the need to provide a safe and healthy environment for future generations.

During a media interaction, CM Dhami remarked, “First of all, I extend my greetings on World Environment Day. The protection and preservation of the environment is our collective duty. Uttarakhand is the land of the Himalayas. The Himalayas, along with the Ganga, Yamuna, and several other rivers, provide water and life to the people. Over 71 percent of our state is covered by forests. It is our responsibility to safeguard the environment and ensure clean air and water for all. Most importantly, we must give our children a safe and healthy environment.”

Regarding the upcoming elections, CM Dhami stated that his government is focused on public service and the development of the state. He said, “Elections come and go, but our responsibility is to serve the people of Uttarakhand. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are working to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country. This is our primary goal, and we are consistently working towards it. The people of Uttarakhand have always blessed us.”

He also addressed the development of infrastructure around the Kainchi Dham, saying, “This is a significant challenge for us, and we are trying to construct a bypass. The bypass project will commence soon. The work on the Bhimtal bypass has already begun, and we are continuously working on it.”

He noted that a large number of devotees visit Kainchi Dham, reflecting deep faith among the people. Additionally, tourists heading to Ranikhet and other locations, along with hotel owners, shopkeepers, taxi drivers, and others connected to tourism, are also affected. “We are taking this matter very seriously. The process is ongoing, and the government has already taken steps. Development is underway for all our major religious sites, including Kainchi Dham, Kedarkhand, Mansaskhand, the Char Dham circuit, and Adi Kailash,” he added.

In response to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Uttarakhand, CM Dhami stated that there is no need to take Gandhi’s remarks seriously, as he is not regarded seriously in the country. “He may not even be aware of what he says or does. There was a time when he entered politics, and his party repeatedly launched and relaunched him. Many years have passed since then, yet he still has not established himself,” Dhami concluded.
