Bemetra, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Dr. Amritlal Rohleder, the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Bemetra district in Chhattisgarh, has been suspended by the state government effective immediately. This action follows serious complaints regarding inappropriate behavior towards female community health officials, including the use of offensive language and unwanted physical contact.
The suspension was enacted after an investigation by the Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, which included statements from the involved community health officials and other staff members. The inquiry found preliminary evidence supporting the allegations against Dr. Rohleder regarding his use of inappropriate language and conduct.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal emphasized the importance of maintaining sensitivity and decorum among health officials. He stated that no individual, regardless of their position, is above the rules and standards of conduct. Upon receiving complaints, the government ensures a fair investigation, and those found guilty will face consequences.
The minister further assured that the government is committed to creating a safe and respectful work environment within the department. He affirmed that there would be no compromise on the dignity and safety of women in the workplace.
Dr. Rohleder has been suspended under Rule 9(1)(a) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1966. During the suspension, he has been assigned to the office of the Joint Director of Health Services in Jagdalpur, Bastar division, and is prohibited from leaving without prior permission from the competent authority. He will be eligible for a subsistence allowance during the suspension period.
