Chief Justice Rejects India Bloc Leaders Plea Amid Election Controversy

New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud has dismissed a request from leaders of the India Bloc to submit a memorandum concerning alleged electoral irregularities. He stated that the matter is already under consideration and advised the leaders to file a petition with the court instead.

Sources indicate that a detailed response outlining the reasons for the rejection was sent to the opposition leaders via email. The Chief Justice’s reply emphasized that addressing the concerns raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his delegation would be more appropriate through judicial proceedings rather than administrative channels.

This development comes as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other India Bloc leaders planned a march to the Supreme Court on Monday to submit their memorandum. Their document included allegations of “vote theft,” a call for a special intensive review of voter lists, and a demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Opposition leaders had urged citizens to join their march to the Supreme Court on October 12, criticizing the police for recent arrests related to the protest.

In a related incident, the Mumbai police have filed a case against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Amit Thackeray. The two were reportedly detained during a demonstration at Shivaji Park on Sunday, where they protested against police actions and subsequently joined the protest themselves.

Additionally, police have also registered a case against social activist and former Aam Aadmi Party leader Anjali Damania, who was detained while attempting to participate in the demonstration at Shivaji Park.
