
Riyadh, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has resulted in the death of an Indian national, identified as Mohammad Yusuf Ali from Hyderabad. The Indian Embassy reported that three other Indians were injured and currently in intensive care, although their conditions are stable.
Embassy officials have visited all hospitals where the injured were admitted. In a statement on social media platform X, the embassy confirmed the unfortunate death of Ali and provided updates on the health status of the injured. Two others are in regular wards, while some have already been discharged.
The embassy expressed gratitude to Saudi authorities for the medical care provided to the injured citizens. They assured families that the embassy would extend all possible support during this difficult time.
Ali’s death was confirmed by Indian politician Asaduddin Owaisi, who noted that one of Ali’s sons is undergoing knee surgery, while another son has suffered severe injuries, including the amputation of three toes. Ali’s wife and daughter are reported safe, but his aunt sustained a head injury, which is no longer life-threatening.
Owaisi mentioned that he is in contact with Ali’s brother-in-law in Riyadh. He also urged Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to assist the family further. The Indian Embassy has assured the family of support and is in touch to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased’s body to India.
Minister Jaishankar expressed his condolences over the incident, stating he is deeply shocked by the loss of an Indian citizen and reaffirmed that the embassy would provide all necessary assistance to the family.
The attack at the airport has claimed the lives of 12 individuals, with over 300 reported injuries, including 11 Indian nationals. The Indian Embassy is coordinating with local authorities and hospital officials to monitor the situation of the injured.
Early reports indicate that among those killed were four Saudis, two Bangladeshis, and one each from Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Sudan. Saudi Arabia has attributed the attack to Houthi rebels.
