New Delhi, August 14: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, who also serves as the Chair of the International IDEA Council, met with Jagannath Sami, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji, on Friday. The discussion focused on election management and the training of electoral staff.
The meeting took place at the Election Commission’s headquarters. The Commission shared on social media platform X that both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening democratic cooperation in line with the vision set at IICDEM 2026.
According to the Election Commission, both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in the field of election management and to work together on the training of electoral personnel.
This meeting is part of a series of discussions led by CEC Gyanesh Kumar aimed at sharing India’s electoral processes and best practices with various democratic nations.
Earlier this month, the Chief Election Commissioner met with Mongolia’s Ambassador, Uljit Luvsanjav, where they discussed democratic cooperation and training for electoral staff.
Gyanesh Kumar has also met with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador, Azamat Yeskarayev, to discuss issues related to election management, where both parties agreed to increase cooperation in this area.
Additionally, he has held discussions with Georgia’s Ambassador, Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Sardor Rustambayev, and Sri Lanka‘s envoy, Mahishini Kolonne, focusing on electoral collaboration and training for electoral staff.
