Dibrugarh, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Air Force (IAF) has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service with a swift emergency airlift operation. On September 10, two critically injured patients were successfully evacuated from Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh to Dibrugarh.
The operation was initiated at the request of Ritu Tawe, the Circle Officer of Mechuka. She had urgently appealed for assistance due to the severe conditions of 40-year-old Yajap Pujor Jibang and 45-year-old Chapi Pudur. Both patients required immediate advanced medical care, which was unavailable in the remote area of Mechuka.
Upon receiving the request, the IAF acted quickly. A helicopter arrived in Mechuka around 2:50 PM, where it picked up the two patients and set off for Mohanbari in Dibrugarh. Despite challenging weather conditions and difficult terrain, the pilots skillfully navigated the flight, landing safely at Mohanbari Airbase around 4:20 PM. The patients were then promptly transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
The success of this operation was a result of coordinated efforts from multiple departments. The Civil Aviation Department, IAF Eastern Air Command in Shillong, the Air Headquarters in New Delhi, along with the district administration and health officials from Mechuka and Aalo, worked in unison.
During the operation, ADC Mabi Taipodia from Aalo, DMO Dr. Linya Lolen, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Karken Reena ensured timely medical assistance and transfer arrangements, preventing any complications for the patients en route.
It is noteworthy that the weather over Tato was severely adverse, and daylight was limited, presenting significant challenges for the helicopter operation. Nevertheless, officials prioritized the patients’ rescue, leading to the successful completion of the mission.
The Civil Aviation Department expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Air Force for their rapid and life-saving support.
