Chaos Erupts During BSF Constable Recruitment Exam in Kanpur, Candidates Demand Re-Examination

Kanpur, September 2: A significant uproar occurred during the BSF Head Constable Ministerial (BSF HCM) recruitment exam in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The exam was canceled due to technical issues and has been rescheduled for September 18.

Alok Yadav, a candidate from Ghazipur district, reported that the server repeatedly went down during the exam. Additionally, invigilators disturbed candidates at least five times during the 1 hour and 40-minute test. Candidates possess video evidence of these disruptions. Despite this, there has been no official communication regarding whether the exam will be rescheduled, prompting protests from the students. After a brief demonstration, officials presented a dubious notice, the authenticity of which remains unclear.

Yadav mentioned that the recruitment exam has been pending for the past two years, with candidates frequently receiving notifications about it on their phones. The physical test was conducted two years ago, and after numerous delays, they finally learned about the exam’s scheduling. Many candidates braved the rain to reach the exam center, only to face this chaotic situation.

He expressed frustration over the mental toll this has taken on students, stating that the authorities seem oblivious to their plight. He warned that any action taken against the system could lead to FIRs against them, yet no accountability has been established for the shortcomings during the exam. Students are demanding a hassle-free re-examination.

Another candidate, Prakash Vishwakarma, who traveled from Deoria, emphasized the need for a transparent re-examination process and an official announcement of the new date. He also called for the revocation of licenses for institutions that allow such disarray.

Digi Vijay Singh, a student from Etawah, highlighted that candidates were supposed to report by 7:30 AM, but staff arrived at the same time, causing verification delays that extended until the exam began at 9 AM. Many candidates faced issues with their assigned computers, which were non-functional, leading to frequent seat changes.

He reported that the computers operated for about an hour before shutting down, and he urged the government to conduct the exam properly and announce a new date. Until an official announcement for the re-exam date is made, the candidates have vowed to remain at the site.
