Central Defense Minister Sanjay Seth Demands White Paper from Hemant Soren Government

Ranchi, May 23: Central Defense Minister Sanjay Seth has sharply criticized the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand. He has called for an immediate white paper addressing the state’s economic situation, power crisis, and water scarcity.

During a media interaction at his parliamentary office, Seth stated, “Jharkhand’s economic condition has completely deteriorated, causing distress among the public, yet the government is ignoring it. The government should prioritize resolving the people’s issues, which remains unaddressed.”

Seth urged the Chief Minister to release a white paper on the state’s financial status to present the truth to the public. He emphasized that citizens have the right to know how their taxes are being utilized, making the release of the white paper urgent.

He also accused the Hemant government of misusing funds provided by the central government. He noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the central government allocated ₹18 crore for setting up oxygen plants in government hospitals, but this money has been wasted. Consequently, hospitals in the state still face a shortage of oxygen.

Criticizing the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, Seth mentioned that this initiative, which cost ₹2,490 crore and was implemented in five phases, has been completely mishandled by the Hemant Soren government. Currently, approximately 700,000 households in the state lack access to clean drinking water.

The central minister questioned who would take responsibility for these failures. He pointed out that power outages are rampant across Jharkhand, including the capital, Ranchi, where electricity is cut for up to ten hours at a time, yet the government has not provided any clear answers.

As the monsoon season approaches, Sanjay Seth warned that while rain is imminent, there appears to be no preparation from the administration. He demanded that the government cover all open drains and clean them within the next 15 days.
