
Mumbai, May 28: Salman Khan’s film ‘Biwi No. 1’ marks its 27th anniversary since its release. Directed by David Dhawan, this romantic-comedy was produced by Vashu Bhagnani.
On Thursday, actor-producer Jackie Bhagnani took to social media to reminisce about the film’s legacy. He expressed that his passion for the movie remains as strong today as it was at the time of its release.
Sharing the film’s poster on Instagram, Jackie wrote, “It has been 27 years since ‘Biwi No. 1’ was released, and it continues to be one of the favorite films among audiences.”
He fondly recalled his childhood memories on set, stating, “I still remember running around the film’s set, watching my father Vashu Bhagnani, director David Dhawan, and writer Rumi Jafry create this film. The atmosphere was filled with fun and creativity.”
Jackie praised the film’s cast, highlighting, “Salman Khan’s incredible energy, Karisma Kapoor’s brilliant acting, Sushmita Sen’s captivating presence, Anil Kapoor’s perfect comic timing, and Tabu’s remarkable charm made this film special. A heartfelt thank you to all the viewers for their love across generations.”
Released in 1999, ‘Biwi No. 1’ was one of the biggest hits of that year, achieving impressive box office collections. The film’s songs, especially ‘Chunari Chunari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai,’ remain popular among audiences today.
The storyline revolves around an extramarital affair and the tale of an ideal homemaker. Salman (Prem) is a wealthy husband who cheats on Karisma (Pooja) with a beautiful model, Sushmita (Roopali). Pooja then devises a humorous plan to win back her husband.
