Mumbai, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Sonakshi Batra, who is currently starring in the play “Jagadhatri,” recently spoke about her connection with Lord Krishna and the valuable lessons she has learned from his life, particularly during the Janmashtami festival.
Reflecting on her childhood, Batra shared that her father would encourage her to seek Lord Krishna’s blessings whenever she participated in various activities and performances. At the time, she did not fully grasp the significance of this advice. However, as she now navigates her career in acting, she has come to appreciate her father’s wisdom deeply.
In an interview, Batra remarked, “Lord Krishna played many roles—son, friend, lover, mentor, strategist, and king—yet he never lost his true essence. This is a crucial lesson for actors as well. In acting, one must embody various characters and experience their emotions and journeys, but recognizing one’s true self amidst these roles is equally important. The beauty of being an actor lies in portraying diverse personalities while seeking a way back to one’s authentic self.”
Batra reminisced about the joyful memories of Janmashtami, a time when her family would come together to celebrate Krishna’s birth. She described the decorations, the preparation of offerings, and how family members lovingly adorned the idol of Laddu Gopal. Her mother would prepare special dishes, particularly kheer, and offer Krishna his favorite butter.
“These traditions bring a unique joy,” she said. “The small customs associated with Janmashtami make the festival special, filling the home with warmth and happiness, and creating lifelong memories.”
Discussing the Dahi Handi ritual, Batra emphasized the importance of teamwork. “One person may reach for the pot above, but it takes a whole team to achieve that goal. Every hand matters, and everyone supports one another. If one person’s balance falters, it impacts the entire team. This principle applies not just to Dahi Handi but to every task and profession.”
Regarding Lord Krishna, she concluded, “For me, Krishna symbolizes the courage to play multiple roles in life without losing oneself. It is about fulfilling one’s responsibilities while having faith in what is beyond one’s control, leaving it to God.”
