New Delhi, August 22: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has released its monthly report for July 2026, revealing that a total of 280 drug samples failed to meet quality standards. This report highlights the ongoing regulatory monitoring of pharmaceutical products across the country.
According to the findings, central drug laboratories identified 40 samples as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ), while state drug testing laboratories reported 240 samples that did not meet the required quality benchmarks.
The CDSCO clarified that declaring a drug as NSQ is based on one or more quality standards failing for that specific batch. This does not imply that all other drugs from the same company or brand are also substandard.
Additionally, the report indicated that a drug sample from Bihar was identified as spurious. Initial investigations revealed that this drug was manufactured by an unauthorized producer using a brand name owned by another company.
The CDSCO stated that an investigation is ongoing, and actions will be taken against the offenders under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and relevant regulations.
The regulatory agency emphasized that, in collaboration with state drug regulators, efforts to identify and remove NSQ and counterfeit drugs from the market are conducted regularly. The goal is to ensure that patients receive safe and quality medications.
CDSCO assured that monitoring drug quality and combating counterfeit drugs will continue to protect public health.
