Controversial Remarks Lead to FIR During Paigam-e-Mohabbat Rally in Bhopal

Bhopal, August 22: In Bhopal, several law and order issues were addressed by Additional Police Commissioner Shailendra Singh Chauhan. He confirmed that an FIR has been filed against a former councilor for allegedly making inappropriate remarks during the ‘Paigam-e-Mohabbat’ rally, which stirred religious sentiments. Furthermore, he clarified the situation regarding two Kashmiri students residing in the Gandhinagar area, stating that no disputes were found after an on-site investigation.

The police official reported that two separate FIRs were registered in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor girl, with arrests made in both instances. He also mentioned that a ban on protests at Polytechnic Square would remain in effect due to traffic concerns.

Chauhan explained that the ‘Paigam-e-Mohabbat’ rally featured a video of an individual allegedly making offensive remarks about religion, which circulated on social media. Upon learning of the incident, the police acted swiftly, filing a case against the former councilor based on the video evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

Regarding the two Kashmiri students living in a society in the Gandhinagar area, police responded to information shared on social media. Chauhan noted that senior officials were alerted through a post by an institution. A police team visited the site to speak with residents, landlords, and others involved. It was revealed that there were no objections to the students’ presence, and the issue arose from misunderstandings among some individuals.

He further stated that the police spoke with both Kashmiri students, who expressed satisfaction and reported no current issues. The police provided them with contact numbers and assured them of full support if needed.

Chauhan also detailed the case involving the minor girl, where two separate incidents led to two FIRs being filed. Her family reported her missing, prompting immediate police action. After she was found, the girl disclosed information about an individual who allegedly harassed her, leading to action against the accused.

Additionally, during questioning, the girl revealed that she had been raped by another individual about a month earlier, resulting in a separate FIR. The police have arrested the accused in this case as well. Chauhan mentioned that the girl had gone to Mandideep, where the police received relevant information about the incidents.

Regarding the protests at Polytechnic Square, Chauhan emphasized that it is a crucial and busy area with high foot traffic. To prevent public inconvenience and traffic disruption, prohibitory orders have been issued.
