Chinas Early Rice Production Remains Steady at Over 28 Billion Kilograms for Six Consecutive Years

Beijing, August 22: According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the total early rice production in 2026 reached 28.29 billion kilograms. This figure has remained stable at over 28 billion kilograms for six consecutive years, demonstrating consistent stability in production.

The area dedicated to early-maturing rice cultivation has seen a slight increase. Wei Fenghua, director of the rural division of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that this year, the country continued to enhance its support for grain production. Several policies have been implemented to strengthen agriculture, benefit farmers, and enrich rural areas, leading to stable sowing expectations among farmers.

He also noted that since the introduction of early-maturing rice, most major producing regions have experienced favorable conditions in light, temperature, and water. This has resulted in excellent growth of early-maturing rice. In 2026, China achieved an increase in summer grain production while maintaining stable early rice output, laying a solid foundation for a bumper harvest of grains throughout the year.
