CBSE Board Exams Not Canceled; Viral Circular Declared Fake

New Delhi, March 1: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts exams simultaneously in India and several other countries. Thousands of students in the Middle East are participating in these exams. Recently, a fake circular circulated under the name of CBSE claimed that the Class 10 and 12 board exams in Middle Eastern countries had been canceled. This misleading information spread rapidly on social media, suggesting that students would receive grades without taking the exams. However, the CBSE has clarified that this circular is entirely false and misleading.

The viral circular alleged that due to global extraordinary circumstances and the Iran-Israel conflict, the remaining language exams for Class 10 and 12, as well as the social science exam scheduled for March 7, were canceled. It also stated that students would be graded based on internal assessments and pre-board exams. The CBSE board exams began on February 17, with over 4.3 million students taking part. On the first day, students in India and foreign examination centers completed the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 biotechnology exams. All exams held so far have been conducted peacefully.

According to the board, a total of 4,367,870 students are participating in the board exams this year. The CBSE has officially confirmed that no order to cancel the exams has been issued. In light of the Iran-Israel conflict, the exams have been postponed. The board has urged students, parents, and schools to obtain information only from the official website and verified sources.

The CBSE has announced that the board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 scheduled for March 2 (Monday) in some Middle Eastern countries have been postponed. The board clarified that the exams are not canceled, and new dates will be announced later. This decision applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in countries such as Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, where the exams have been postponed.

Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the examination controller of CBSE, stated that the situation will be reviewed on March 3, Tuesday. The board indicated that appropriate decisions regarding the exams proposed for March 5 will be made based on the circumstances. Due to unrest and bombings in the region, the CBSE board exams have only been postponed, not canceled.

The official decision to postpone the exams was made by the CBSE on Sunday. Countries affected by the postponement include Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The CBSE has communicated this information officially to various countries with the help of Indian embassies.

It is noteworthy that CBSE board exams are being conducted in 26 countries worldwide, including India. Many Middle Eastern countries have a significant number of students participating in these exams. The CBSE has instructed all its affiliated schools abroad to immediately refute this false information and prevent confusion among students.

The board also warned that spreading rumors could be punishable, and action may be taken against those disseminating misinformation through cyber channels. Official notifications regarding the postponement have also been sent to embassies. Indian embassies and consulates in countries such as Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Muscat, Doha, Manama, Kuwait City, Tehran, and Dubai have received this official information.
