BSF Thwarts Major Infiltration Attempt at Punjab Border, Two Pakistani Intruders Killed

Amritsar, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted a significant infiltration attempt at the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar’s Tarn Taran district on October 2. During the early hours, BSF personnel engaged two Pakistani intruders, who were attempting to cross into Indian territory.

The incident occurred in the Rajoke area of Tarn Taran. According to sources, BSF troops detected suspicious activity near the border and challenged the alleged intruders. Reports indicate that at least three individuals were advancing from the Chattanwala area of Pakistan towards the Indian border. When ordered to halt, the intruders ignored the warnings and continued their approach, prompting the BSF to open fire.

Two of the intruders were killed, while a third managed to escape. The identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed. Their bodies have been handed over to the police for post-mortem examination, and further actions are being coordinated with the Punjab police.

This incident highlights the heightened vigilance of security agencies regarding infiltration attempts along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. The region, which shares a 553-kilometer international border with Pakistan, has seen numerous infiltration and cross-border smuggling attempts in recent years. Many of these attempts have been successfully thwarted by BSF personnel.

In a related development, Punjab police dismantled two networks involved in the supply of illegal weapons and drugs, arresting four suspects and seizing 10 kilograms of heroin and 10 pistols. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were allegedly linked to foreign traffickers involved in the illegal arms and drug trade.

Two First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered in Amritsar, and investigations are ongoing to trace the entire network and establish its direct and indirect connections. Earlier, the rural police in Amritsar had also arrested three individuals, including a woman and her husband, for their involvement in a similar illegal arms and drug supply network. They seized over 10 kilograms of heroin and advanced assault rifles, including AK-47 and AK-56 models, along with ammunition.

Tensions remain high along the Punjab border, as authorities continue to combat infiltration and trafficking threats.
