Brazils President Lula da Silva to Strengthen Ties with India Ahead of Visit

New Delhi, February 18: Ahead of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s visit to India, the Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized the strong ties between the two nations. The ministry shared a video showcasing the friendly relationship between President Lula and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Official spokesperson for the Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal, announced on the social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday morning, “President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is soon arriving in India.” He also shared a video highlighting the robust, diverse, and strategic relationship between Brazil and India.

President Lula will be in India from February 18 to 22. He is set to participate in the AI Impact Summit and will engage in discussions with Prime Minister Modi on February 21. Before departing for India, he stated that he would discuss new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries during his visit.

In a post on ‘X’, President Lula mentioned, “We are now departing for India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the coming days, I will participate in the summit on the impact of artificial intelligence. We will discuss new avenues for collaboration between Brazil and India.”

To strengthen relations, a high-level business delegation will accompany him on this trip.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Both leaders will review all aspects of bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi will host a lunch. They will also exchange views on regional and global issues, including cooperation on multilateral platforms, reformed multilateralism, global governance, and issues related to the Global South.”

President Droupadi Murmu will also meet with the Brazilian President and host a banquet in his honor. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also engage with the Brazilian leader.

A large delegation, including around 14 ministers and top CEOs from major Brazilian companies, is expected to accompany President Lula. The accompanying ministers will hold meetings with their Indian counterparts, while the CEOs are anticipated to participate in a business forum organized during the Brazilian President’s visit. This reflects the growing trade and commercial relations between the two countries.
