New Delhi, July 30: President Droupadi Murmu met with a delegation from the Bastar region at the Cultural Center of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. The delegation included winners of Bastar Pandum 2026, local leaders, and Padma awardees.
The meeting was shared on the President’s official ‘X’ handle. The post stated, “A delegation from Bastar, including winners of Bastar Pandum 2026, local leaders, and Padma awardees, met with President Droupadi Murmu at the Cultural Center of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President honored the members and engaged in discussions with them.” Central Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, and several other dignitaries were also present.
In her address, the President praised Bastar’s rich cultural heritage. She noted that events like ‘Bastar Pandum’ play a crucial role in reconnecting youth with their traditions, customs, and cultural legacy.
President Murmu emphasized that such events not only preserve culture but also promote tourism and create new employment opportunities at the local level. She stated that showcasing the talents of Bastar’s artists, craftsmen, and tribal communities would strengthen the region’s identity on both national and international stages.
During her speech, President Murmu also highlighted the positive changes occurring in Bastar. She remarked, “The transformation in Bastar is a matter of joy and pride for the entire country.” She expressed confidence that the people of Chhattisgarh would achieve new heights of development, peace, and prosperity through their collective strength and determination.
The President assured the delegation members that the central government stands firmly with Bastar and Chhattisgarh in all circumstances. She reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development by prioritizing education, health, connectivity, and self-employment in tribal areas.
