Bhopal, July 30: The Women’s Wing of the Congress party staged a protest in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, against a controversial statement made by actress and MP Kangana Ranaut. This protest included the burning of her effigy. Recently, Ranaut made remarks regarding daughters during protests in Delhi, which sparked widespread condemnation.
In response to the backlash, she later attempted to clarify her comments. The protest was organized by the District Women’s Congress in front of the state Congress Committee office. Women Congress leaders stated that this demonstration was in reaction to Union Minister Prahlad Joshi’s support for those involved in the Bilkis Bano case, as well as Ranaut’s alleged derogatory remarks towards protesting daughters.
The Women’s Congress activists emphasized that they will not tolerate any compromise on issues of women’s respect, justice, and safety. They asserted that it is the duty of every responsible citizen and representative to protect the dignity of daughters when they raise their voices for their rights and justice.
The District Women’s Congress reiterated that the party will continue to speak out against injustices, crimes, and derogatory comments directed at women. They urged the central government and BJP leaders to show sensitivity towards women’s respect and justice.
