Mumbai, August 18: In a significant development in the Dr. Narendra Dabholkar murder case, Sachin Andure, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. The court issued this relief by staying his sentence, following a ruling by Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjit Singh Bhosale.
Sachin Andure had challenged his conviction in the special court by filing a bail petition in the high court. The Dabholkar family opposed the bail with a separate petition, but the court did not accept their plea and granted bail to Andure.
The Sanatan Sanstha welcomed this decision. Spokesperson Abhay Vartak stated that the court’s ruling represents a “victory for truth.” He claimed that there were several serious flaws in the investigation, which were presented before the court.
Senior advocate Nitin Pradhan, representing Andure, argued in court that there were significant investigative shortcomings in the case. According to the defense, the CBI did not conduct an identification parade, and there were contradictions in the eyewitness statements. Some witnesses claimed to have seen Andure at the crime scene, while others stated he was not present.
The defense also highlighted alleged flaws in the investigative process before the court. Taking these facts into account, the high court approved the bail and stayed the sentence. Earlier, in April 2026, Sharad Kalaskar was also granted bail in this case by the high court.
The Sanatan Sanstha stated that after Dabholkar’s murder, individuals associated with the organization and Hindutva were targeted ideologically without solid evidence. The organization noted that the special court had previously acquitted Dr. Virendra Tawde, advocate Sanjeev Punalekar, and Vikram Bhave in this matter.
Abhay Vartak mentioned that when Sachin Andure was arrested, his daughter was only six months old, and she is now eight years old. The family has faced difficult circumstances for an extended period.
