Boman Irani Advocates Awareness for Fragile X Syndrome Through Cinema

Mumbai, July 17: Actor Boman Irani is known for speaking out on select issues, but his reasons are always profound. On Friday, he addressed a critical topic. Through social media, he emphasized the power of cinema in raising awareness about Fragile X Syndrome and the importance of open discussions in society.

Irani believes that films can effectively convey complex issues to the public.

Ahead of World Fragile X Awareness Day, he released a video on Instagram, stressing the need for greater awareness and inclusion for those affected by Fragile X Syndrome and their families. He stated, “Please watch ‘Fragile.’ As artists, we express ourselves through storytelling, but some stories compel us to pause, listen, and understand the worlds of those we may know little about. ‘Fragile’ is one such film.”

He provided insights about the film, saying, “This movie portrays the challenges associated with Fragile X Syndrome with complete truth and sensitivity. It tells the story of individuals and their families who face this condition daily with courage, patience, struggle, and love.”

Irani has always believed that cinema’s greatest strength lies in bringing to light issues that often go unnoticed. A compelling story can change perspectives, spark conversations, and inspire us to understand and empathize with one another more deeply.

He added, “Before World Fragile X Awareness Day on July 22, I hope ‘Fragile’ reaches as many people as possible and fosters awareness, understanding, and acceptance on this topic. Awareness about autism cannot be complete without discussing Fragile X Syndrome, as it is considered the most common single-gene cause of autism.”

In conclusion, he urged everyone, “I encourage you all to watch ‘Fragile,’ share its message, and be part of this essential conversation. Sometimes, understanding begins with just one story.”
