Kolkata, July 29: On Wednesday morning, a man was discovered dead outside a food stall on the roadside in the New Town area of Kolkata. This incident has raised concerns among local residents. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to police reports, the body was found near an old food stall close to the Ram Temple in North Kolkata’s New Town. The stall owner noticed the man lying on the ground when he arrived to open the shop. Despite several attempts by him and nearby shopkeepers to wake the individual, there was no response, prompting them to alert the police.

Upon receiving the information, officers from the Eco Park police station arrived at the scene. They took possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

Authorities stated that the actual cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is available. Local residents have reported seeing marks of injury on the man’s forehead; however, investigators have not ruled out the possibility of injuries resulting from a fall.

A senior officer from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate confirmed that a case has been registered under the unnatural death sections, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased. They are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to ascertain how the individual arrived at that location and whether the body was moved there.

Investigators are coordinating with other police stations to identify the deceased and trace his activities prior to the incident.

This event comes just days after another incident on July 23, when a young man’s body was found in the Dum Dum Park area, which also raised security concerns among local residents.
