Uttarakhand Cabinet Meeting Focuses on Char Dham Yatra and Traffic Management

Banbasa, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a cabinet meeting on Sunday at the NHPC campus in Banbasa, marking the first such gathering in Champawat district. The meeting addressed several key issues, including the development of border areas, healthcare, the Char Dham Yatra, traffic management, and various public interest matters. Dhami noted that around 25 to 26 significant proposals were discussed.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced an increase in stipends for senior and junior resident doctors. Previously set at approximately ₹75,000, the stipend has now been raised to over ₹1 lakh. Additionally, the deadline for regularizing ‘Class B’ land in Dehradun, Lalkuan, and Bindukhatta has been extended by one year.

Dhami emphasized that several crucial decisions regarding border areas were made. The government aims to ensure that the benefits of its schemes and development projects reach remote border regions. Banbasa and Tanakpur are part of Champawat district, where development efforts are underway under the vision of ‘Adarsh Champawat.’ The Chief Minister stated that all departments are actively engaged in these areas, and the arrival of senior officials with the cabinet would accelerate development initiatives.

The meeting also focused on the Char Dham Yatra. Dhami expressed the need for smooth operations and improved facilities for pilgrims, stressing the importance of road conditions and other arrangements. Given the rising number of visitors at Kainchi Dham, discussions were held on enhancing traffic management.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,’ which will feature various events across all districts on the 7th, commemorating Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years of dedication to public service.

Dhami pointed out that Banbasa and Tanakpur are adjacent to the Nepal border, fostering long-standing social and cultural ties between the people of both nations. He noted the similarities in culture and traditions, as well as the ‘roti-beti’ relationships that exist. The government remains committed to making significant decisions for the development of border areas, keeping in mind the needs of local residents.
