BJPs Sambit Patra Questions Congress Claims at Delhi Rally

Sambit Patra criticizes Congress for exaggerating rally attendance, challenging Rahul Gandhis statements on the electoral process.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Sambit Patra, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a fierce critique against the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi during a rally held at Ram Leela Maidan in New Delhi. Patra questioned Congress’s claim of attracting 1 million attendees, noting that only about 28,000 chairs were set up, with 5,000 to 7,000 of them remaining empty. He asserted that the rally exposed the discrepancies in Congress’s assertions.

Addressing a press conference, Patra also challenged Congress’s allegations regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR), where they claimed voters’ names were removed from the rolls. He emphasized that Congress should first reconcile its claims with the reality on the ground.

The Ram Leela Maidan spans approximately 10 to 12 acres, with only 15 percent of the space occupied by the stage and its surrounding area. Patra pointed out that nearly 40 percent of the venue was completely vacant, devoid of chairs or attendees.

He stated that Congress’s assertion of drawing over 1 million participants was far from the truth, as the actual attendance was significantly lower. If Congress’s claims were scrutinized accurately, it would reveal the gap between their statements and reality, he argued.

Patra also took issue with Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, in which he labeled the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections as illegal and called for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He highlighted that Kumar took office in February 2025, after the elections had already occurred, questioning Gandhi’s logic.

Furthermore, he pointed out that if the 2024 elections were indeed flawed, then Gandhi’s position as the Leader of the Opposition would also be illegitimate. He urged Gandhi to file a petition in court if he believed there was electoral misconduct, questioning why he had not done so.

Continuing his attack on Gandhi, Patra remarked that no leader could rise to prominence through “trick photography.” He emphasized that becoming Prime Minister requires hard work and dedication, adding that “PM” stands for both “Prime Minister” and the effort represented by sweat and toil.

Patra criticized Congress’s dynastic politics, suggesting that had they genuinely worked to earn the public’s trust, the scene at Ram Leela Maidan would have been different. Leadership, he asserted, is built through hard work and struggle, not merely through images and claims.

He also mocked Gandhi’s notion of opening a “shop of love,” questioning when such a license would be granted to him. Patra accused Gandhi of using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi while professing to promote love.

In a final jab, he stated, “Rahul Gandhi, this India does not belong to your family. This India belongs to its people. Here, even a tea seller can become Prime Minister.” He concluded by highlighting the strength of democracy, which allows individuals from ordinary backgrounds to ascend to the highest constitutional offices.
