CRPF Achieves Remarkable Milestone with No Operational Deaths in a Year

The CRPF marks a historic achievement with no operational deaths in 12 months, a feat not seen in 47 years.

New Delhi, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has celebrated a significant achievement, marking a full year without any operational deaths. This milestone, announced by Director General G.P. Singh, is the first of its kind in 47 years.

Singh shared this news on the social media platform X, highlighting the importance of the accomplishment. “This is a crucial milestone in CRPF’s history. For the past 12 months, there have been no operational fatalities. The last operational death occurred on October 30, 2025,” he stated. The previous record was set during a period that ended in January 1979.

According to Singh, several factors contributed to this success, including the availability of modern equipment, improved training, strategic planning, and an efficient rapid response system after incidents. He emphasized the importance of swiftly providing injured personnel with access to secondary and tertiary medical care.

“This achievement is particularly significant as we remained deployed in key operational areas, actively conducting missions and achieving critical successes. We are committed to ensuring the safety and peace of all citizens,” Singh added.

However, this achievement comes at a time when the CRPF is grappling with rising suicide rates among its personnel. Notably, suicides are not classified as operational deaths. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) recently took notice of a media report indicating that 19 CRPF personnel committed suicide between January and May 2026.

The report cited CRPF data, revealing that 59 personnel died by suicide in 2025, the highest figure recorded in the past five years. In August, the NHRC remarked that if the media report was accurate, it raised serious concerns about the right to life of those serving in the country’s largest central armed police force.

In a report published on August 11, it was noted that a total of 281 CRPF personnel had taken their own lives over the last five years, with approximately 216 being on duty at the time. The suicide statistics for the CRPF were as follows: 57 in 2021, 43 in 2022, 57 in 2023, 46 in 2024, and 59 in 2025.
