New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Pradeep Bhandari, a spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently directed sharp criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether he has become forgetful of his party’s history. In a statement, Bhandari labeled Congress as a “Bhasmasur party,” suggesting that it has caused regional parties to form out of frustration with Congress.
Bhandari stated, “Has Rahul Gandhi forgotten his history? The Congress party is like a Bhasmasur that has fragmented every regional party, leading them to become independent because they were fed up with Congress.” He urged Congress to remember its past.
Highlighting Congress’s historical challenges, Bhandari pointed out that the party has had three different election symbols from 1952 to the present. He noted that this signifies the party’s numerous splits over the years. According to him, there have been approximately 70 divisions within Congress since 1951, including the formation of separate parties by leaders like Sharad Pawar and Mamata Banerjee.
Bhandari further claimed that Congress has historically posed a threat to democracy. He argued that the recent political shifts in West Bengal, where the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee was ousted, demonstrate respect for democratic processes, as the party had lost its organizational strength and support.
He added that Congress has a history of imposing the Emergency, toppling the first communist government, and causing the rise of regional parties. Bhandari criticized Congress for its inconsistent adherence to the Constitution, asserting that Rahul Gandhi and the party have failed to grasp its significance.
As a result, he believes that Gandhi’s frustration with the current political climate stems from a collective awareness of Congress’s historical missteps among the public.
