Mumbai, June 6: Navnath Ban, the chief spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, has responded sharply to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s allegations regarding the spending of ₹150 crores in the Legislative Council elections. Ban accused Congress of engaging in dynastic politics.
Ban stated, “Sanjay Raut repeatedly makes false statements. He claims that approximately ₹150 crores were spent in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. I want to ask Raut, when he went to Nashik, he did not even file his nomination there. So, how many people did he bring home with that ₹150 crores? How much corruption has he committed himself? He should answer that. He deliberately tries to make false accusations. People need love, not money, to win. Raut and his party do not even meet the public. When Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister, the doors of Matoshree were closed to the public, legislators, MPs, and ministers alike. Money-driven politics never succeeds, as proven by the people of Maharashtra in the assembly elections.”
Ban also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru’s tenure, saying, “With the blessings of 140 crores of people, Prime Minister Modi is completing the longest term. Under his leadership, Article 370 was revoked, and the Ram Temple is being constructed. I am pleased that Modi is breaking Nehru’s record for the longest tenure. I hope Modi will be elected again in 2029 to serve the nation.”
Regarding the allegations of dynastic politics against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Ban remarked, “This is not new for Congress. Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi have all promoted dynastic politics. Kharge will likely follow the same path. Keeping power within the family is in Congress’s DNA. Since its inception, Congress has been ruled by members of a single family, which is why the public has rejected them.”
