Patna, March 30: The political rivalry between TMC and BJP leaders has intensified ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections. Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded sharply to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks, stating that a BJP government would impose a ban on cow slaughter in the state.
Singh’s comments come as all political parties in West Bengal ramp up their campaigning efforts. Mamata Banerjee, the TMC leader, accused the BJP of threatening the dietary choices of the people, claiming that if the BJP comes to power, meat consumption would be restricted.
In response, Giriraj Singh clarified that there would be no ban on fish consumption. Instead, he emphasized that a BJP government would prioritize the prohibition of cow slaughter. He asserted that under Mamata’s rule, Hindus have faced persecution, a situation he promised to rectify if BJP is elected.
Regarding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the Legislative Council, Singh remarked that Kumar’s tenure would be remembered in history. He stated that both the nation and the people of Bihar would recall his administration as a golden era.
Singh highlighted Kumar’s long political career, having served as a legislator since 1985 and as a successful chief minister for over two decades. He believes Kumar’s remarkable tenure will be inscribed in history with golden letters.
He also took a jab at RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, contrasting Nitish Kumar’s governance with Yadav’s “jungle raj.” Singh noted that history would remember both leaders: one for advancing Bihar’s development and the other for derailing it.
