BJP President Questions CM Over Sting Operation Involving Ramesh Jarkiholi

Bagalkot, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra raised questions on Thursday regarding comments made by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar about a sting operation linked to former minister and BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi. Speaking to reporters in Bagalkot, Vijayendra demanded to know who orchestrated the sting operation against Jarkiholi and who provided him legal defense.

“Who executed the sting operation against Ramesh Jarkiholi? Who protected and supported those involved? Which lawyer defended him, and who later became the Additional Advocate General?” Vijayendra asked, emphasizing that the public is aware of these details.

Jarkiholi, a prominent BJP figure in northern Karnataka, resigned from his ministerial position after a private video surfaced during the previous BJP administration. Vijayendra’s remarks were a response to Shivakumar’s recent statements about conducting sting operations against Congress ministers and leaders.

He criticized the Chief Minister for only discussing the current sting operation while failing to address the circumstances surrounding the previous operation involving Jarkiholi. “The public knows who orchestrated the earlier sting operation and who provided legal support,” he reiterated.

Vijayendra accused the ruling party of engaging in low-level political strategies and conspiracies. “If you want names, just ask the Congress MLAs. They will tell you,” he added, questioning whether sting operations would also target Congress legislators.

He pointed out the irony of a leader who has conducted sting operations against his own party members now holding the Chief Minister’s position. “If you ask Congress MLAs, they will reveal who that leader is,” he stated.

Additionally, BJP legislator S.R. Vishwanath criticized Shivakumar’s comments, urging him to speak with dignity. He noted that the public is well aware of who was involved in the sting operations prior to Shivakumar’s tenure.

Vishwanath expressed concerns that the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged sting operation would lead political leaders to be more cautious moving forward. “We suspect that they may have already conducted sting operations on ministers. This statement might be a preemptive measure to deflect blame if any videos surface in the future,” he claimed.

He accused the state government of attempting to distract citizens from pressing issues, such as drought and rising prices. “Karnataka is suffering from drought, and people are struggling with inflation. The Congress government faces serious allegations related to the NICE project. By raising issues like sting operations and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Chief Minister is diverting public attention,” Vishwanath concluded.

These comments come amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling Congress party and the BJP, particularly concerning the controversies surrounding sting operations targeting political leaders and the voter list SIR.
